Grit Removal System
Grit Removal is an unit operation for treatment of WTP/WWTP. Grit Chambers are designed to remove grit, consisting of sand, gravel, cinders, or other heavy solid materials that have subsiding velocities or specific gravities substantially greater than those of the organic putrescible solids in wastewater.
Process Description :-
For Grit Removal Grit settles by gravity into the bottom of the tank (in a grit hopper) while effluent exits at the top of the tank. The grit that settles into the grit hopper may be removed by a grit pump or an air lift pump. Grit removal is the process used to remove sand, silt and grit from Effluent.
Target Impurities :-
- Grit – consisting of sand, gravel, cinders or other heavy solid materials.
Advantages :-
- Protect moving mechanical equipment from abrasion and accompanying abnormal wear.
- Reduce formation of heavy deposits in pipelines, channels, and conduits.
- Increase overall treatment process reliability and effectiveness.
